Cowboys Upgrading Secondary; Plan to Cut Elliott

The Dallas Cowboys have re-signed safety Donovan Wilson to a three-year, $24 million deal, per Todd Archer. Wilson was one of two Dallas defenders to record a stat in every statistical category. Wilson finished the 2022 season with 108 tackles, five sacks, four tackles for loss, a fumble recovery, two forced fumbles, an interception, and two pass breakups.

The Cowboys also re-signed linebacker Leighton Vander Esch on a two-year, $11 million deal. Vander Esch was second in tackles for Dallas last year with 100.

Dallas also went out and traded for cornerback Stephon Gilmore from the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a fifth-round pick. A big move for Dallas for a very underrated corner. Gilmore will play the opposite of Trevon Diggs and give the Cowboys that second corner they’ve needed.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Cowboys are planning to cut running back Ezekiel Elliott, per Ian Rapoport. The move will save the Cowboys close to $11 million in cap space.
