NASCAR Penalizes Hendrick Motorsports, Kaulig Racing

NASCAR has penalized all four Cup Series teams for Hendrick Motorsports, along with Kaulig Racing’s No. 31 team. Each team was penalized with L2-level penalties for unapproved modifications at Phoenix Raceway last weekend.

The penalties occured after NASCAR confiscated louvers from all five cars before the race. The drivers involved are Kyle Larson (No. 5 Chevrolet), Josh Berry (No. 9 Chevrolet, substitute for Chase Elliott), William Byron (No. 24 Chevrolet), and Alex Bowman (No. 48 Chevrolet), of Hendrick. Justin Haley (No. 31) of Kaulig Racing was the fifth driver involved. Each crew chief has been fined $100,000 and suspended for the next four races. The crew chiefs are Cliff Daniels, Alan Gustafson, Rudy Fugle, and Blake Harris for Hendrick. The Kaulig Racing crew chief is Trent Owens.

In addition, each team was penalized with 100 team and driver points, and 10 playoff points, minus Berry, due to him being a substitute driver.
