Per Ian Rapoport, Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder is expected to sell the team to a group led by Josh Harris for just under $6 billion.
Harris is the primary owner of the New Jersey Devils of the NHL and is the co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA.
The purchase of $6 billion would break a record of the most expensive purchase of a U.S. sports franchise. The previous record was set by the Walton family when they purchased the Denver Broncos for $4.65 billion.
Update: Harris has appeared to win the bidding and will buy the Commanders for over $6 billion ($6.05).
