Nuggets Sweep Lakers; Advance to NBA Finals

Los Angeles, CA. – Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets have advanced their way to the NBA finals after their 113-111 Game 4 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron James set a personal record of 31 points in the first half to give the Lakers a huge lead (73-58) at halftime. In the third quarter, the Nuggets outscored the Lakers 36-16 taking a 94-89 lead heading to the final quarter of play. Jokic contributed 13 points in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Nuggets had built a seven-point lead, but the Lakers stormed back and tied it up with five minutes to play. With just over one minute remaining, Anthony Davis hit two free throw shots to tie the game up. Jokic scored a layup to break the tie.

The Nuggets had the lead with just four seconds left to play. The Lakers got the ball to James who failed to make the game-winning shot, giving the Nuggets the victory. After 47 years, the Nuggets are in the NBA finals for the first time in franchise history.

RECORD BROKEN… Jokic recorded his eighth triple-double in the postseason, breaking Wilt Chamberlain’s record of seven in 1967.

CLOSE GAMES, SERIES SWEEP… The games between the Nuggets and Lakers in the West finals were very close. The series was not, as the Nuggets swept the Lakers 4-0.

UP NEXT… The Nuggets will face either the Miami Heat or the Boston Celtics in the NBA finals. Miami currently has a 3-0 lead. Finals begin June 1.
